What happened

Under a flag of truce the Army of the Tennessee buried or handed over Confederate dead. Logan reported 1,000 in front of Leggett's division, 422 buried in front of the XVI Corps and 360 in front of the XV (with as many more unburied), 3,220 so far. He also reported 1,017 prisoners sent north and 18 flags taken. Many men were buried where they fell; about 3,000 unknown dead of the 1864 battles now lie in Oakland Cemetery.
