The Federals entrench before the East Point line
What happened
The Federals pushed up to the Confederate main line and found it 'strongly fortified and protected by abatis'; the XIV Corps lost nearly 200 in probing attacks. Both sides dug in along a front that now ran southwest toward East Point. Sherman called Utoy Creek 'a noisy but not a bloody battle.'
