Kilpatrick returns by Lithonia to Decatur

What happened

After swimming Cotton Indian Creek and crossing South River on the morning of the 21st, Kilpatrick's column 'reached our lines near Decatur, by way of Lithonia, without molestation, at 2 p.m. August 22'. It brought in one gun, three flags and about 50 prisoners, and lost no more than 300 men.
