Atlanta Medical College (surgical hospital)
The Atlanta Medical College building was used as a Confederate surgical hospital and was one of the few downtown buildings to survive the November burning.
The record
Classes stopped in 1861 and the building served as a surgical hospital through the campaign. Contemporary lists of buildings that survived the November 1864 fires include 'the Medical College'. The college stood on Butler St (today's Jesse Hill Jr Dr) near today's Grady Memorial Hospital; confirm the lot before relying on the point.
