Disputed Passage: Dilworth's crossing
The XIV Corps' first crossing of Peachtree Creek. Two of Dilworth's regiments crossed on a log and fought Reynolds's and Adams's brigades on this hill.
The record
Davis's division crossed near the mouth of Green Bone Creek, 3/4 mile north. Stewart's corps was guarding the south bank from Howell's Mill to Nancy's Creek. Once his whole brigade was over, Dilworth moved south to this hill, where a sharp, brief fight caused heavy losses on both sides. On July 20 Quarles's brigade relieved Reynolds, who moved east to Howell Mill Rd for the main battle. The hill is residential; get the owner's written permission.
