Hardee's extended line and command post near Rough and Ready

On Aug 30 Hardee's corps hastily built a line from East Point to Morrow's and Thames' mills, turning east to the Macon railroad near Rough and Ready, where Hardee had his command post.

The record

The Federals had lifted the siege on Aug 25 and begun wrecking the West Point railroad below East Point by the 29th. Hardee's line was held for only a day. That night his three divisions (Maney's, Cleburne's and Brown's) and S.D. Lee's corps marched to Jonesboro, where they attacked on Aug 31. The marker is at the southern edge of the map area, in Clayton County.
