The 33rd New Jersey's hill
An advanced hill 500 yards in front of Geary's division where Scott's brigade overran the 33rd New Jersey and captured its state flag.
The record
The 33rd New Jersey of Jones's brigade had just been sent here to prepare and support a battery position when Scott's Alabama and Louisiana brigade, part of Loring's division, struck. The regiment was driven back to Collier Rd, and John Abernathy of the 27th Alabama seized its blue state flag. The assault set off the critical fighting around Collier's Mill. The site is private residential property.
