Blake's Mill
An antebellum mill on the North Fork of Peachtree Creek, owned and run by John Blake (1798-1854).
The record
The GHS marker places the mill west of the road. On July 18, 1864, Blair's 17th Corps camped here, with McPherson and Blair headquartered at the mill, after marching south on the old Shallow Ford Road (GHS Rainey Plantation marker). The marker gives no construction date, but Blake's death in 1854 places the mill before then.
Today: North Fork Peachtree Creek in north-central DeKalb.
