The record

Rebecca Latimer Felton (1835-1930) became a writer and suffrage and temperance advocate and, in 1922, the first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate (GHS). The marker ties the Covington road to a pioneer-era date; when the road was first laid out was not established by this research. It stands near today's Covington Highway.

Today: Near Covington Hwy in south DeKalb.

Where on the map: Decatur east-southeast toward Covington; the Covington Hwy corridor passes the marker.
