Johnson (Ashe) House, Stone Mountain (mid-1830s)
The DeKalb History Center dates this two-story house on Mimosa Drive to about 1836, and the city's walking tour says it predates the railroad's arrival in 1845.
The record
The City of Stone Mountain's tour calls it the Johnson House, built in the mid-1830s; the DeKalb History Center lists it as the Ashe House, built about 1836. Wikipedia, citing David Freeman's Carved in Stone, says village founder Andrew Johnson built a hotel on the road in 1836, but none of the sources consulted says that this is that building. It is not individually listed on the National Register.
