The record

GHS markers identify McDonough Road with Capitol Avenue, McDonough Boulevard and U.S. 23, and describe the old Fayetteville Road running northeast past Cobb's Mill on Intrenchment Creek. The DeKalb History Center says the 1830s Thomas-Barber cabin stood on the Decatur-McDonough Road, now Browns Mill-Salem Road. This research did not find when these roads were first laid out.

Today: Capitol Ave, McDonough Blvd and Fayetteville Rd in south Atlanta and DeKalb.

Where on the map: McDonough Road: Capitol Ave SE -> McDonough Blvd -> US 23 toward McDonough. Old Fayetteville Road: from this marker northeast past Cobb's Mill on Intrenchment Creek. Decatur-McDonough Road: today's Browns Mill-Salem Rd (DeKalb History Center).
