Montgomery Ferry Road
The road northwest to Montgomery's Ferry at Standing Peachtree. One section ran from George W. Collier's house in Land Lot 104 and crossed Peachtree Road below Palisades Road.
The record
GHS markers say the old Montgomery Ferry Road crossed Land Lot 104 of the 17th District and, beyond the river, continued as the pioneers' 'Peachtree or Montgomery Ferry Road' toward the Cherokee country, later U.S. 41. Montgomery's ferry was the only traffic crossing on the main road from Atlanta to Marietta until 1872. Montgomery Ferry Drive in Atlanta keeps the name (GHS).
Today: Montgomery Ferry Dr NE and Montgomery Ferry Rd NE (Ansley Park to Piedmont Heights); the marker stands near Peachtree Rd.
Where on the map: From the Collier house in Land Lot 104 (Ansley Park area) northwest across Peachtree Rd below Palisades Rd toward the Chattahoochee at Standing Peachtree (Bolton); beyond the river roughly along US 41.
