A 677-unit project for Black families in Vine City, built for about $2 million in 1941.
The record
John J. Eagan Homes was one of the Housing Authority's Black projects of 1941 (Atlanta Housing). It had 677 units in Vine City (Wikipedia). Together with Herndon Homes it added to the Black population west of downtown just as Black families were pressing north across Simpson Road.
Today: Demolished in the 2000s and replaced by Magnolia Park.
