The record

The project control map takes in Atlanta University, Morris Brown, Morehouse, Clark and Spelman colleges, University Homes and John Hope Homes. It sets land-use controls, with revisions dated from June 1959 to August 1968. In June 1969 the Housing Authority reported the project at about 100 acres, with 223 new dwelling units completed. Like the Butler Street and Rawson-Washington projects, it was one of the first wave of renewal areas in and around Black neighborhoods (Bayor).

Today: The AUC campuses and the Choice Neighborhoods redevelopment of the former University Homes site (Scholars Landing).

Where on the map: Project boundary on GSU layer atlpm0001, the blocks around the AUC between Northside Dr and Joseph E. Lowery Blvd (formerly Ashby St).
