The record

GPB's 'What's in a Name?' places the tannery at Simpson and Orme streets (Orme is now Centennial Olympic Park Drive) and says the creek flowed under the sites of Grant Field, 14th Street and Collier Road; the surviving stretch runs through Ardmore and Collier Hills. Andrew J. Collier's antebellum grist mill stood on Tanyard Branch (marker 060-39). The Tanyard Creek CSO facility is one of the city's six remaining overflow facilities, and the BeltLine trail through Tanyard Creek Park opened in April 2010.

Today: Open creek through Tanyard Creek Park to Peachtree Creek; piped upstream.

Where on the map: USGS NHD maps the open channel from about 33.7985,-84.3964 north through Tanyard Creek Park to Peachtree Creek; the reach under Midtown, Georgia Tech and downtown is piped.
