The record

Wikipedia says the name most likely comes from the 'Utoy Indians.' State markers place Buzzard Roost (Sulecauga) and Sand Town on the river here, and describe the ancient trail from Buzzard Roost at the mouth of Utoy Creek to Standing Peachtree. Wikipedia's Cascade Heights article names two 19th-century mills, Willis' Mill on the South Utoy and Herring's Mill on the North Utoy. The Battle of Utoy Creek was fought along the valley on August 5-7, 1864. The city's Utoy Creek treatment plant dates from 1936.

Today: Open creek; Cascade Springs Nature Preserve lies on South Utoy Creek.
