What happened

Wood's IV Corps division found the Peachtree Rd bridge burned, improvised one, drove Hardee's troops to the high ground and held the bridgehead until Newton relieved it at dark. Downstream, two regiments of Dilworth's brigade (Davis's division, XIV Corps) crossed on a log near Green Bone Creek and fought Reynolds's and Adams's brigades on the hill at today's Bohler and DeFoors Ferry roads. Geary's XX Corps division crossed at today's Northside Dr.
