An 1840 farmhouse that served as headquarters of Brig. Gen. Jacob D. Cox's division, XXIII Corps, during the Utoy Creek operations.
The record
The Joseph Willis House (1840) is one of the few pre-war buildings left in the city. It served as headquarters for Cox, whose division made the failed assault on Bate's ridge south of Cascade Rd on Aug 6. Treat it as private property.
