The gap in the Federal line (129th Illinois)
Where the 129th Illinois, briefly alone on Geary's left, held off Scott's men until the rest of Harrison's brigade closed the gap.
The record
Ward's division had just crossed the creek and was resting in the low ground 350 yards north, expecting no attack. Scott's men dashed across the road and down the slope and met the 129th Illinois. Hit in front and flank, it held until the 105th Illinois and 70th Indiana came up. Then, wheeling left, the 129th drove east against Featherston's flank. The site is a private front yard.
