The record

Wikipedia cites an 1883 Atlanta Constitution article naming Nancy Evans (born Baugh), who 'settled with her husband on Nancy Creek in this county when the Indians were here'; other accounts name a chief called Nance, or, in Walter Cooper's 1934 Official History of Fulton County, a Native woman named Nancy near the creek's lower end (Appen Media's Past Tense). The Pace's Ferry road crossed it on a bridge the DeKalb Inferior Court ordered in 1834 (marker 060-127). In September 2004 flooding collapsed a sewer pipe into the creek, and in September 2009 the flood badly damaged the Peachtree Dunwoody Road bridge; the West Wesley Road gauge read 25.46 ft on September 21, 2009.

Today: Open creek; Murphey Candler Lake and Silver Lake sit on its tributaries.
