Mary Gay House (c. 1850)

Author Mary Ann Harris Gay (1828-1918) lived in this house from about 1850 until 1914. Her Life in Dixie During the War describes Decatur in 1864.

The record

Wikipedia dates the house to about 1850 and notes the Junior League's claim of about 1820. It once stood on several acres, was later turned to face Marshall Street, and was moved to Adair Park by the Junior League of DeKalb County in 1979 (GHS). It was listed on the National Register on May 6, 1975.

Today: 716 W. Trinity Pl, Decatur (Adair Park).
