Distribution Hospital (Alabama & Pryor)
The Confederate Distribution Hospital stood at the southeast corner of Alabama and Pryor streets, next to the railroad and the depots.
The record
Atlanta was a major Confederate hospital center until the campaign reached it. Besides the Distribution Hospital, hospitals occupied the fairground on Fair St, the Atlanta Medical College, the Atlanta Female Institute on Courtland St, hotels, and a convalescent camp on the Ponder property. About 3,900 soldiers who died in Atlanta hospitals are buried at Oakland. The block was rebuilt many times and is now Underground Atlanta.
