Land districts and the Fulton-DeKalb line
Atlanta and DeKalb lie mainly in the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th districts of old Henry County. In the county GIS the Fulton-DeKalb line runs on the old line between the 14th and 15th districts, and Moreland Avenue follows it through East Atlanta.
The record
DeKalb's land-lot layer shows districts 15, 16 and 18 of the 1821 lottery (originally Henry), small pieces of districts 11 and 12 on its south edge, and in the far north the 6th district of the 1820 lottery (originally Gwinnett, with 250-acre lots). The City of Atlanta's index adds the 14th and 17th districts in Fulton and the 14th district of old Fayette ('14F' or '14FF') on the southwest side. Downtown's Zero Mile Post site is in Land Lot 77 of the 14th, Buckhead in the 17th, the Decatur square in Land Lot 246 of the 15th, and Stone Mountain village in Land Lot 89 of the 18th. From about 33.66 to 33.86 degrees north, DeKalb's western boundary lies within a few meters of the western edge of its 15th and 18th districts. Fulton County was carved from DeKalb's western part in 1853.
Today: Moreland Ave in East Atlanta and Little Five Points runs along the county line.
Where on the map: A straight north-south district line at about 84.349 W from DeKalb's south edge (near 33.65 N) to about 33.86 N, followed by the Fulton-DeKalb county line and by Moreland Ave through East Atlanta.
