Baker's brigade against Woods on Copenhill
Baker's Alabama brigade, commanded by Col. J.H. Higley, veered northeast and faced two of Woods's brigades on the south slope of Copenhill until Woods's flank attack drove it off.
The record
A 250-yard gap in the swampy Clear Creek valley separated Woods's division from the right of Morgan L. Smith's division, where the DeGress battery stood. When Manigault broke through at the railroad, Woods swung onto his flank, recovering the battery and forcing Baker's brigade to withdraw. This slope is now residential Inman Park.
