The record

Wikipedia's East Atlanta article, citing Bryant and VanCronkhite's East Atlanta (2014), says the trail was part of a trade-route system between the Chattahoochee and the coast and 'would eventually become Flat Shoals Avenue.' GHS Battle of Atlanta markers mention Federal troops posted 'on Flat Shoals Rd.' on July 22, 1864, near Terry's mill pond. An online trail compilation also begins the Shallowford Trail at Flat Shoals. These sources do not identify which shoals gave the road its name.

Today: Flat Shoals Ave SE and Flat Shoals Rd.

Where on the map: Flat Shoals Ave SE from Moreland Ave/Glenwood Ave in East Atlanta southeast as Flat Shoals Rd through south DeKalb.
